Colorful Fridays - A Summer ART Campaign

Friends.

These are crazy times and one of my missions in life is to spread some joy and color into these black and white, divisive moments that we’re in where …

Hate.

Judgement.

Fear.

Sadness.

Hopelessness.

Anger

Othering.

… are running WILD.

This Summer I’m going to do something different, it’s called “COLORFUL FRIDAYS”. Every Friday (beginning next month, on June 6) I’m going to take an original painting (done on either a canvas or framed mixed media paper) along one of Dr. Nicole LePera’s books (donated by her amazingly generous team) and leave them somewhere around my town/city/neighborhood. I’ll include the link to the Art Studio (via a sticker - see image below) on the back along with a personal note of encouragement to the finder. Paintings will all be bright (of course!), pop art mixed with various cartoon characters to invoke a sense of nostalgia and joy in the people who see them. I’ll leave these colorful joy packages at Starbucks, Grocery Stores, Gas Stations, park benches, doctor’s offices, etc.

Will it make any money? Zero. In fact, (mathematically speaking) I’ll lose money!

BUT.

Will it spread some joy? Some love? Some kindness? I think so. And for me? That’s what it’s all about.

I want to do this because I’ve been asking myself - what’s something unique that I can do to bring some joy to the people who live in and around my community?

And this? This is it.

I’ll share some pictures when I start leaving them around and will let y’all know if I hear from anyone who finds one.
