Your words speak truth to me and echo what I am learning as I experience God. I must say, it is not comforting to be in a place that is so counterintuitive to what I have learned in my culture. Yet, somehow, I feel it is a more firm foundation than the shifting sands of the world around me.

Thank you for sharing, Susan. Yes, it's NOT comforting - this approach is so counterintuitive to not only what I've learned, but also to the "progressive world" I find myself in. There is SO much pressure to conform, SO much pressure to join in the judging, shaming, outcast, etc (especally as a podcaster, blogger, etc). But as much pressure as there is, it doesn't feel right to me anymore. This feels more firm of a foundation, like you said.

Side note: if you're on my Patreon account (you can sign up for free - link below), on Thursday I will share a short video telling the story of how the other day I was recording a podcast episode with a progressive pastor friend who wrote a book and the conversation turned to politics. Long story short, he emailed me later in the day to tell me that his father-in-law (who is a Trump supporter) was in the room off camera while we were recording and afterwards they had an amazing interaction.

Anyways, I wanted to share the story with my Patreon friends to spotlight the point that when we stop trying to commandeer Jesus to our side and stop trying to weaponize him against "the other", and listen to our own intuition along with the stories of others ... amazing things can happen.
