Ethics, Morality, and a New Way Forward in Divisive Times
new episode w/ Scott Gelfand

Friends,
This week on the podcast, I sat down with Dr. Scott Gelfand, author of Thinking Ethically: A Handbook for Making Moral Choices.
For many of us who grew up in Evangelical or fundamentalist spaces, morality once felt simple: follow the Bible, obey God, and trust that clarity would follow.
Easy, right?
10 Commandments.
Sermon on the Mount.
… do these things and all will be well.
BUT.
Then deconstruction happened and the Bible, God, etc. (for many of us) no longer holds the same power and/or authority. And so, what do you do … right? When God/the Bible WERE your source(s) of authority for ethics and morality, what do you do when that framework starts to break down?
Like …
What is ethics?
What is morality?
What do these things mean when God/the Bible are removed from the picture OR aren’t as key as they once were?
In addition to that, we also spoke about something that is central to where I’m at in my journey - how we (as a people) really aren’t as divided as we think we are, as the media and those in power WANT us to think.
Phew.
There’s a lot here - and it’s all so, so good.
If you’re rebuilding your moral framework after faith and trying to live a life built on love, compassion, and curiosity - this one will speak to you.
