Friends.
Oh, Marvin the Martian. The fiercest yet most polite villian in the known universe - always up to somthing, always ready to take over planets, always amazed at the lack of intelligence on earth - HA!
He has this one line in an episode and I went on YouTube to find it where he says, āIām not angry. Iām just terribly, terribly hurt.ā
And.
Man.
That makes me think, right? Because how many people in this world do we villianize and demonize and judge and hate and shame and all the things because we assume that deep down inside they are horrible, bad, rotten, no good, and evil?
Am I the only one?
I mean, honestly - we do ALL. THE. TIME. in ā¦
Politics.
Religion.
Our communities.
⦠Yeah.
Whether itās Donald Trump or Kamala Harris or Elon Musk or Joel Osteen or that nasty barista who seems to make your latte wrong on purpose! We all have people in the world and in our lives who we can be very quick to assume are ābadā - the Marvin the Martianās of our lives.
But.
What if.
What if they arenāt bad? What if deep down inside they arenāt rotten? What if they are good? What if the very core of them is good and whole and wonderful? What if the breath of the Divine is pulsing through their DNA in the same way itās pulsing through yours?
Maybe?
And what if they arenāt as angry as they are hurt? Arenāt as nasty as they are hurt? Arenāt as rotten as they are hurt? Arenāt as fixated on destruction and causing pain as they are hurt and traumatized?
Now.
Hear. Me. Out.
That doesnāt excuse their behavior, of course. Nor does it mean that you need to be in ārelationshipā with them (ex. a narcissitic parent, spouse, etc.). No way, no how - you arenāt a doormat, you arenāt a punching bag, you donāt need to stick around. We arenāt handing out free passes to people to hurt and abuse and cause chaos because they are āhurtā. Some bridges need to be burned.
But.
I wonder.
I wonder if seeing those we demonize the most as hurting, traumatized humans as opposed to evil and rotten, demonic hell raisers ⦠I wonder if that might allow us to see their humanity, to (at the very least) see that they arenāt much different than us; and I wonder if seeing that might cause us to direct a little grace their way, a little love, a little hope that they find the healing they are so desperately looking for (even if they donāt yet realize thatās what theyāre after).
Marvin the Martian, folks. Perhaps he can teach us that stuffing away our pain as opposed to facing it and grieving it and dealing with it can cause us to create immense pain for the world around us.
Lots and lots of lessons here.
This one is in the ART STUDIO for $275, thatās the suggested price. Like it? Want it? But canāt swing that price? Just make an offer and even if the offer is $0, Iāll drop it in the mail next week.
Much love.
