Friends.
As March creeps to an end, I am continuing to befriend my grief with art, bringing joy and nostalgia into these heavy days and moments.
March is hard for a number of reasons, but (mainly) because it marks the 2 years anniversary of my dad’s passing. I miss him dearly and wish I could see his face as he watches these paintings come together.
Sigh.
Art, though? It’s healing - the color. The shapes. The paint. The smells. The feeling of accomplishment when I spray a finished canvas with gloss.
So. Good. What a life!
And so, this one? The 90’s had great cartoons (Doug, Ren and Stimpy, DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Animaniacs, etc), but dont sleep on the 80’s, my friends! I was born in 1982 and Danger Mouse was one of my favorites. In every episode he was called upon by his government to save the world with his wit and James Bond-ish charm.
In this painting?
His heart radiates with beams of neon light, a reminder (to me) that my super power is my love and compassion – traits that will truly save the world on both a micro and macro level.
We are at a moment in history where (maybe more than any other) we need each other’s love - may we give it freely to ourselves and to everyone else.
This one is $250 in the Art Studio, but name a price (even $0 and it’s yours).
Much love,
