Hello Friends,
I wanted to thank you all for subscribing to my Substack. I used to post most of my thoughts about God and life and all the things on Facebook, but …
I don’t know.
… Facebook has become so angry these days and (honestly) I find it hard to spend time there without coming away feeling drained, disappointed, and hopeless.
This space, though, feels more warm and more welcoming of ideas that push the boundaries of the boxes we are often told our ideas have to fit into. Pushback comes, of course, but it typically feels more gentle with the encouragement feeling more genuine.
I was talking to someone the other day and I said that here on Substack there seems to be less of the competition found on Instagram / Facebook and more support where artists/creators genuinely want to support each other and see everyone succeed in whatever it is that they create.
Anyways.
I’m taking a bit of a writing break this Summer to spend more time reading, pondering, and wandering.
Yes, wandering:
Wandering through my books.
Wantering through my ideas.
Wandering throguh the many thoughts that are evolving in my head.
Wandering through sketch pads and canvases and paints.
And so if you’re new to these parts, there won’t be much new “content” shared until the Fall with the Summer being reserved (mostly) for sharing releases of new podcast episodes (bi-weekly, sometimes weekly) and new art.
That said.
We have 239 subscribers here (thank you!) with 21 who are “paid subscribers” at $7/month. I’m grateful for each person who is hanging out with me in this space and wanted to gently invite those of you who are “free subscribers” to consider becoming “paid”. There is no “bonus” content for those who pay (I try to make everything available to everyone so that money isn’t an obstacle to community, ideas, art, etc), but the money is a huge help to our family. Of all the things I do, the work I do at the What If Project takes the most amount of my time while bringing in the least amount of money.
Funny how that works, right?!
But.
Money isn’t the object (which is why I continue to pour myself into it regardless of what income it might bring in - money has never been the point) but it helps - a lot, actually. We use money that people give here at Substack and over on Patreon for groceries and pet supplies and every little bit helps.
And so as Summer rapidly approaches, I hope everyone has a memorable time with their family and friends and that you arrive in the Fall having had the time of your life.
Thanks for being here.
Much love,
