What if Grief Is Like an Old Friend?
giving grief the key to your heart
No paywalls here; but if you have the means to support, it helps pay the grocery bill and keep the lights on - thank you for your encouragement and support!
There may be spelling / grammar mistakes in my articles that make it through my editing, and that’s on purpose. I’m a recovering perfectionist (who was once VERY hard on himself) and one of the ways I’m learning to be compassionate on myself is by allowing mistakes to just … be.
Friends.
Grief isn't always about death, you know?
Because sometimes grief shows up in other times and places in life, like …
When your child starts another school year.
When summer comes to an end.
When you realize a season of life will never come again.
… these are moments that carry a lot of weight, right?
In this video, I share a bit about why I've begun to think of grief as an old friend, as someone who shows up unexpectedly and invites us to slow down and remember to cherish the moments we've lived.
Instead of pushing grief away, what if we welcomed it as a friend who has much to teach?
If you've ever struggled with endings, nostalgia, parenting, or simply watching life move faster than you'd like, I hope these thoughts might encourage you.
